BYU Hockey

Tonight I went to my very first hockey game! It was INCREDIBLE! I went with one of my roommates Amy cause she hooked us up with awesome prices! But I had so much fun! It was BYU vs UTAH, the good old rivalry that we all love so much. And it WAS good at that. It had all of the makings of a great hockey game: players slamming each other against the wall (half of which happened less than a foot away from me), boys behind me talking trash to Utah, and great Zamboni, and of course all of the wild game action. And to make it even better, BYU won 4-3!!! Hurrah! It was such a wild celebration! Everyone was screaming and jumping and throwing popcorn around! I had to shake my hair out afterwards to get all of the kernels out. It was fantastic! I had such an amazing time! Yay for ice hockey!!

The Weather Outside Is Frightful

It's snowing!!!! Ah!!!

Really though. I am so not ready for winter yet. I woke up this morning to there being about an inch of snow on the grass. It is not my favorite. Also, in addition to the unwanted snow, the heater in my apartment is currently broken... sooooo it is pretty much freezing!! I can curl up on the couch in 4 layers with 3 blankets and still be freezing cold. I just can't handle it! I am seriously going to die when December hits and it is even worse with like 4 feet of snow. SIGH... I guess I will just have to wait for the maintenance man to get here. And he better hurry it up!!

But besides being freezing cold, life is good. School has been crazy busy lately. Midterms have just passed so I am finally able to live outside of my bedroom and the library again. Somewhat. It is still pretty busy, just not as bad. The college life is pretty awesome! I have done super fun things while being up here! I have been mini-golfing, pranking (sshhhhh, don't tell anyone!), playing Super Mario (the original super nintendo one) and I even went to a Haunted Forest, where I have to say that I did not scream once (although my date did ;) ). But it has been awesome!! I still love life up here, although I do wish that someone would come cook for me and do my laundry. As it turns out, it isn't all its cracked up to be, and that wasn't much to begin with! :D

Birthday Wishes

Well now that I am officially 20 years old, I hope you all don't think that I have to act mature now... cause friends, that is sure not going to happen anytime soon! Sorry to say that!

Anyways... my birthday was amazing! I went to work and found out that Maren had left me birthday surprises there! I also had ice cream at work, which was amazing. Later last night I went and had ice cream with my friend, Jason, and later found out that it was all a scheme. We got back last night and I found a bunch of people just chillin out in his apartment. Apparently they were waiting for me to get back to scream "SURPRISE!" Bahaha, it was way awesome though! I blew out candles on 7-layer bean dip and had amazing chocolate cake. I loved it!

Thanks to all my friends and family who made my birthday super awesome! You all are incredible!! :D

College Adventures

School life here is crazy busy! ALL THE TIME! It is awesome and I love it! There is always some party going on or friends getting together and doing something. It is fantastic. Crazy times have happened including going to a comedy show at BYU, freaking out over mold in the fridge, running (literally) away from boys, having a bonfire at midnight in the canyon, going to some crazed party at Pirate Island, yelling at a boy for blocking me in Settlers of Catan, having someone's car horn go off while taking the garbage out even though we were not even close to the dang car.... And there are more! It has been so crazy, but also so much fun! I love the crazy life at BYU! Bahaha!

Everything else is all good with me! Work is really good, but also really busy. I have spent the last week listening to Korean businessmen speak on a tape, trying to write down what they say. The only problem is that they don't speak much English... and it makes it slightly more difficult. School is crazy! All of the teachers decide together that they are going to throw tests and quizzes all at the same time. It's a conspiracy I think. My Book of Mormon teacher also tells everyone at the end of each class to have a "caffeine-free" weekend. My art teacher told my very first self-portrait that it looked like the Little Mermaid. So it is all good. :D

Only Me.

So today after work and class, I went over to Red Mango to have some nice frozen yogurt with my family. But of course something had to go wrong. Of course I had to lock my keys inside of my car. WITH the car engine running. I honestly had no clue how I managed to pull that one off. But I am pretty sure I am one of the only ones who have. Chris finally drove me back to my apartment in Provo to grab my spare key, then drive me back to my car in Orem. Thanks Chris!! But wow... so much for making my first FHE up here!! Haha funny stuff. I would have taken a picture as Mikelle had suggested for this fine post, but alas, my camera was in the locked car. Sad day isn't it? But it sure makes a good story to tell right? Maybe someday I will learn to actually get out of my car with my keys in my hand.... and actually learn that locking my doors while the car is running is a bad thing to do.

First Day on the Job!

Today was my first day at my new job! And I loved it! All of the people I work with are super nice and I feel so comfortable with them! The job is fun and I can't wait to do more things with it! All I did today really was sit in front of my computer doing the same thing though... although it was still awesome! I also got 2 free meals to Cafe Zupas, and some leftover ice cream! Yes!!!! :D LOVE IT! I did learn, however, that I get really tired when I stare at a computer screen for 9 hours a day! Crazy isn't it? Who would have thunk... I also realized that I have to start going to bed sooner than 1 o'clock in the morning cause I have to be to work at 8am.... Hmmm... It seems that I need to make some changes in my life... But totally worth it!

Packing!

Guess what everyone??!! I got a job!!! Yay!! I am super excited! I am now a receptionist at BYU where they take care of all the conferences that come to the college. I am so happy!!! It's crazy though! I am trying to pack all of my stuff. I didn't know that I actually own that much junk. So far I have managed to pile up 3 large garbage bags full of stuff going to DI. It's like digging for gold! I have found so many things that I didn't even know existed! For instance, some of my favorites so far are...

1 - My old collection of Pokemon cards! (Those will be worth money someday you know... :P)

2 - About 4 old journals from like 10 years ago that each have like 3 entries in them.

3 - My hand made out of wax, with stars glued on of course!

4 - A bunch of dead spiders.... (not really my favorite, however, it was my favorite to suck them up the vacuum! )

5 - A postcard sent to me on my birthday by Grandma and Grandpa King when they were on their mission in Africa.

Isn't it great? I am finding so many things!! The only problem is that my room is sooo messy! I can't see anything but junk! I don't know how I am going to dig through it to get to my bed tonight... Hmmm...

Gone Fishin'

Last weekend, Maren and John came down and the whole family went fishing! It was awesome, and very successful! As a total we caught 8 fish! It was fantastic! Dad was the best though... he caught the majority of the fish. He caught 4, and Maren and I both caught 2. Boy, did we sure love dinner that night! The second best thing of the day though, had to be the people who were fishing next to us. We kept hearing things like, "No!", "Crap!", and even "If you don't stop, I'll stick it down your shirt!". It was soo funny! I busted my gut laughing so hard!

Bridal Showers!

I planned, with the assistance of my friends, my very first bridal shower! It was super fun! My best friend RaeLynn is getting married in a few weeks and so all of the girl friends got together to hang out! We had a chocolate fountain (cause what girl doesn't like chocolate?), played some games, gossiped, and watched part of the movie, "Confessions of a Shopaholic". It was so much fun! We just kept a smaller group of friends since Rae already had a Spa Bridal Shower put together by her sisters! But I thought it went pretty well for it being my first shower! And I have to admit that is is super weird to see my best friend get married!

Hello World!

Hey everyone! It's MeLisa, and I have my very own blog! I figured I would start one since I am moving! Everyone will know everything about my life now! Haha it's going to be great!

First off, to let everyone know, I am moving! I am moving into some off campus housing up at BYU! I am so excited! I move on August 25. Everything is super crazy right now because of moving! I have to figure out all that I am taking and leaving behind. Its a weird feeling really... I am so excited to move, but super nervous too! I have never been on my own before! So look out world, here I come!! I mean, I don't even know how to cook anything! Besides quesadillas and PB&J Sandwiches, but I don't think that really qualifies as cooking! And so the REAL adventure starts: cooking!

But life is great!! I am super happy and can't wait to move!! Yay!
